• World Food Day (WFD) 2001
  
  FAO has decided the theme of the WFD 2001 which will be celebrated on October 16th is : "Fight hunger to reduce poverty".
  Since the Indonesian Government has adopted the theme of WFD is "Penyediaan pangan untuk memerangi kelaparan dan mengurangi kemiskinan", BULOG ( National Board of Food ) has been appointed as coordination all activities related to celebration of this event. 
  

• Manila Forum

Food fortification policy, The potential for Protecting Populations in Asia and the Pacific from Mineral and Vitamin Deficiencies has been conducted on 21 - 24 February 2000, by Asian Development Bank, Manila Philippines.

Participants were coming from China, , India, Indonesia, Fiji, Kyrgyz, Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam, Agencies and others.

The subject has been discussed were : Why we are here; Reviewing some success, Making Policy work; Learning from food companies; Meeting consumers need in the global environment; Major opportunities for wheat flour fortification; Fortification of Condiments; 

After the Manila forum, ADB and partners lead a Regional Initiative to fortify essential foods for the poor.

  • August is the month of Vitamin A promotion

  • In this month, there is activity to distribute Vitamin A capsule among infants 6-11 months old (100.000 IU- blue) and among children 1-5 years old (200.000 IU - red)
